After-School Activities Options
Ambassadors:

Description: We are proud to highlight our 5th Grade Ambassadors Program—Our Kelly Mill Ambassadors are outstanding students who exemplify our school's values and serve as role models for their peers. Being selected as an ambassador is a special honor, recognizing students for their exemplary behavior, leadership, and character. Ambassadors take on important responsibilities throughout the school, including serving on safety patrol one morning each week, assisting teachers and staff, helping in the media center, supporting our Helping Hands food program, participating in team-building activities, and volunteering at school events. These student leaders truly make a positive impact on our school community!
Chorus:

Description: The Kelly Mill Chorus is for 4th and 5th grade students who enjoy singing and being part of a large musical ensemble. Members will meet new friends while singing and learning music in rounds, two-part harmonies, and executing simple choreography to accompany the music. We perform Tuesday, Sept 2nd at the Hendricks Middle School football game, on the field at a Braves game (Saturday, Sept. 13th), the KME Veterans Day celebration, and end our season with a final concert on Thursday, November 20th (Dress Rehearsal on the 18th). As part of this experience, students will learn more about reading music, blending voices, and how to perform for an audience. Participation in chorus will provide students experience that will help them develop their singing voices, prepare them for other experiences in the fine arts, and the opportunity to audition for the district wide Honors Chorus in the spring. Fees for chorus include t-shirts, sheet and digital music for performances, equipment, decorations, director, and choreography fees.
Drama:

Description: KME Drama Club is a club that fourth and fifth grade students may audition for in the Fall. The 2025-2026 music will be Seussical Junior! Once cast, students will rehearse Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and some Saturdays to learn the blocking, music, and choreography. Students will perform on the West Forsyth High School stage. ECO Team

Description: The Kelly Mill Math Team is designed for students who are ready to stretch their thinking and take their math skills to the next level. This is more than just solving problems — it's about digging deep into complex concepts, approaching challenges from different angles, and working as a team to find creative solutions.
Members will sharpen their reasoning skills, tackle advanced math problems, and learn to communicate their ideas clearly and confidently. The team thrives on collaboration, encouraging students to support each other as they explore rich mathematical ideas together.
As part of this high-level experience, students will compete in prestigious contests like the Math Olympiad and Math League. Top-performing team members may also earn a coveted spot on the KME Pi Fight Team, where they'll face even more advanced challenges.
This is a place for students who love math, want to be challenged, and are eager to grow as thinkers and teammates.
Robotics:

First Semester Opportunity Tuesdays for 10 sessions (Sept 2, 9, 16, 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov. 4, 11)
Description: 5th-grade students will collaboratively build and compete in Vex Robotics IQ across the county. 4th-grade students will learn how to build and construct robots with the Vex Robotics program and compete in-house. We will offer two opportunities and students are only allowed to sign up for one. Spots will be limited to 20 students per session.
Science Olympiad:

Description: Science Olympiad is a competition-based science activity where students will explore a variety of scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, and engineering practices through collaborative experiments and activities. The activity meets every Friday to prepare for scrimmages and ultimately our county-wide regional competition in February. The fees associated with the club cover the cost of team shirts, competition and lunch fees, as well as the cost of materials for the year.
Try-outs for Science Olympiad will be held after school on August 8th from 2:20-3:30 pm in the science lab. Complete this FORM to sign-up!

We will have fun spreading kindness through things we make like canvas and banner painting, clay making, friendship bracelets, door wreaths and posters, secret bookmarks, window art, etc. to give to friends, family members, display around our school, and even give to local nursing homes. In addition, we will host school scavenger hunts to help encourage others to spread kindness as well!

Each week, students will dive into the kinds of challenging, multi-step problems found in these competitions. They'll learn proven strategies, smart shortcuts, and effective time management techniques that can make a real difference in their scores. Although this club does not include actual competition participation, it’s all about helping students prepare like a competitor.
Whether your child has competed before or is just getting started, this is a great opportunity to build confidence, improve accuracy, and develop the problem-solving mindset needed for success in math contests—and beyond. The skills they gain can be applied not only in competitions, but also in the classroom.

Description: Join us for an exciting after-school adventure in coding! Students in grades 2–5 will learn the fundamentals of programming while having fun with hands-on activities using Sphero Indi, Wonder Workshop Dash robots, and Sphero Mini. Through engaging challenges and creative projects, students will progress at their own pace, building problem-solving skills and confidence in technology. Whether they’re navigating robots or designing interactive programs, this club is all about learning through play and innovation!
Frequently Asked Questions:
- Can After-School Students Participate? A: Students who already attend the Kelly Mill After-School Program are welcome to register and join. These students will have to register and pay for this additional opportunity and after each session, they will return to the Kelly Mill After School Program.
- What if I'm late for pick-up? A: Students not picked up by 3:55 will be sent to the after-school program and charged for the day.
- Can we sign up for multiple activities? A: Yes. You may sign up for any activity as long as they don't overlap.
- How do we sign up? A: Sign-ups are located on SchoolPay.com when open.
- I have questions about an activity, who do I ask? A: Please direct your question to the specific sponsor (emails linked in the information below).
- When do we sign up? A: Sign-ups are communicated in our Colt Connection, website, and social media pages.
- Is there a minimum or maximum number required for activities? A: Yes. If the minimum number is not reached the activity will not be offered. There is a maximum number listed for each activity and registration will close for that activity once that number has been reached.
- May I get a refund? Activity sign-ups are non-refundable so we can ensure all spots are fairly allocated to students.
- My student will not be able to attend an activity day. What do I do? A: Fill out the Transportation Change form for the date of absence/change.
